Carteret General Hospital Embraces New Slogan
“Our Mission Is Your Health”
Carteret is not the same hospital from 15 years ago. Since that time, we have celebrated a collection of awards and accolades including the Silver Award for Heart Failure treatment as recognized in US News & World Report and added the latest technology such as the new orthopedic robotic arm. Designation as a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement as well as achieving The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for Knee and Hip Replacement strengthens how Carteret provides quality health care. To reflect accomplishments and move forward with future achievements, the Hospital has embraced a new slogan “Our Mission Is Your Health”.
Over several months, staff, corporate board members, volunteers and administration pondered ideas for a new slogan at Carteret. Community Relations Committee Chair and Corporate Board member Ginger Parker shared, “We initially explored ideas to reflect the recent awards and recognition, the enhanced focus on quality and safety throughout the hospital, and the addition of the best technology. We soon realized that our discussion continuously remained on the importance of the health and wellness of our patients.”
Carteret’s slogan will reach outside the walls of the organization. Beyond caring for illness and injury, Carteret General is focused on partnering with the community to promote health and wellness in hopes that hospitalization or readmission will not be necessary. Supporting these efforts are outpatient programs for diabetes, wound care and healthy heart. By focusing on care in the outpatient setting and on the transition of care, Carteret is able to improve the health of the community and enhance quality of life.
The new slogan “Our Mission Is Your Health” focuses on the Hospital’s patient-centered approach to health care and expresses the commitment to help individuals enjoy long and healthy lives. As Carteret General looks to what is ahead, the commitment to patient experience is most evident through efforts to reduce wait times in the Emergency Department. This has been a priority so the hospital invested in the community and the CGH Urgent Care on Bridges Street continues to offer an alternative for non emergency care.
The Hospital’s slogan comes just as new CEO, Dick Brvenik begins his fifth month and moves forward with several new projects and changes to expand services. “As we work to make Carteret General Hospital even better for you and your family, we are committed to the promise that stands behind our new slogan, "Our Mission Is Your Health." states Dick Brvenik, Carteret President and CEO. “The updated slogan reinforces the focus on caring for each and every member of our community.”
Reaching out to the community is not the only focus. Carteret General values staff and recognizes that their physical and mental well-being is critical to their success in caring for others. The Hospital provides numerous resources to staff to encourage healthy lifestyle choices such as tobacco cessation programs, Health Assessments, weight loss support, healthy and fresh food options in the cafeteria and stress reducing techniques such as a relaxation room. Additionally, Carteret supports nursing mothers who are working and offers a private lactation room to encourage best nutrition for babies.
Every day Carteret focuses on providing quality health care with exceptional compassion and respect. Already in 2012, Carteret is making strides to embrace the health of the community by bringing new technology and enhanced services for Orthopedics. Using Makoplasty robotic arm technology, Carteret is proud to be the only hospital on the coast of the Carolinas to offer patients the latest in orthopedic surgical options for knee resurfacing and hip replacement. New techniques to reduce recovery time and pain, are also in place for anterior hip replacement. With this new technology, the Hospital is making another significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis.

The timing of the new slogan coincides with the hospital celebrating its 45th year of service and celebrating significant achievements. New business ventures have enabled the creation of outpatient services for neurology and gastroenterology at Carteret Medical Group. Expanded MRI options are now available through a partnership with Coastal Radiology Associates and Eastern Radiologists in creating Seashore Imaging. Featuring an open bore MRI, patients experience maximum comfort with a large, ultra-short bore. Additional awards include recognition as a Bariatric Center of Excellence for weight loss surgery and Carteret Home Health was honored as a HomeCare Elite Top Home Health Care Provider.
